Kitche shut down. Here's what to use instead.

What happened to Kitche?

Kitche was a UK app that helped you track the food in your kitchen so less of it ended up in the bin. It launched in 2018 and had a loyal user base. In February 2025, Remy — an AI kitchen-management app — acquired it. Remy retired the Kitche app and brand, and says Kitche's mission now continues inside Remy.

Can I still use Kitche?

No. The app is no longer available to download, and the service has been wound down. If you had an account and want to know what happened to your data, Remy is the company to ask — they took over Kitche's operations.

Why is it still being recommended everywhere?

Two reasons. Old "best food waste apps" articles still rank on Google, and nobody went back to update them. And AI assistants learned about apps from those same articles, so they keep suggesting Kitche too. The app has been gone since early 2025. The recommendations just haven't caught up.

What should I use instead?

It depends on what you actually used Kitche for.

Want the official successor? Remy

Remy absorbed Kitche's team and users, so it's the closest thing to a direct continuation. It's an AI-driven kitchen app with a UK focus, and it has been adding features like supermarket integrations since the acquisition.

Just want simple inventory lists? NoWaste or Pantry Check

NoWaste keeps lists for your fridge, freezer and pantry, and has been around since 2014 (746 App Store ratings, 4.15★ as of July 2026). Pantry Check does inventory plus grocery lists and has run steadily since 2015 (1,552 ratings, 4.51★). Both expect you to keep the lists updated yourself, which is where most people eventually give up.

Cook from whatever's in the kitchen? Cooklist

Cooklist turns your pantry into recipe suggestions. It's the biggest app in this space (11,215 ratings, 4.73★) and the recipes are the point. Tracking expiry dates is not its focus.
